Taye Diggs to Guest Star

Taye Diggs guest star, We’re still laughing over last night’s third season premiere of New Girl (specifically when Nick got tased on the beach in Mexico, natch) but the cast and crew is already hard at work on the remainder of the season.
Case in point, it was announced today that actor Taye Diggs (Private Practice) will be guest starring on the FOX comedy later this fall, According to Entertainment Weekly, Taye will play a character named Artie who could affect Nick (Jake Johnson) and Jess’ (Zooey Deschanel) newfound relationship.
Although he’s only scheduled to appear on one episode — the same instalment in which Damon Wayans’ Coach is poised to return — Artie is described as a “self-assured ladies’ man.” Apparently he meets Jess and Cece (Hannah Simone) during a guys’ night out at the bar where Nick works.
There’s been some doubt as to whether Nick and Jess’ relationship will survive the season, but if they are together when Artie comes on the scene then we could imagine Nick feeling threatened by the smooth-talking newbie.
